But first: NANOWRIMO 2009 OMMMMGGG
That's right - National Novel Writing Month has arrived.
The month in which I, and all those other NaNoers out there sit down revving with ideas (or not), drink enough coffee to kill a goat, and spew out 50,000 words of vaguely decent yarn which will eventually be a novel, published for free in paperback form by some awesome people.
IS ANYONE OUT THERE AS EXCITED AS ME ABOUT THIS?!

Quick outline of my crazy voyage-about-to-begin:
Name:The Shadow King
Main characters: Fynnigan Felix, charming teenage thief, handsome and a bit of a player, no sense of duty. Evelyn Whitehart, not as pretty as her name, selfish, awkward and uptight. Hates Fynn, Fynn can't get rid of her, they have to save the city. Happy times.
Vague plot outline?: Ohh I dunno. Lots of magic, explosions, discovered secrets and some humour if I'm lucky. (Not a chance).

My ideal career is to be a writer, and my brain is often flooded with squillions of ideas which more often than not end up stretching into the beginning of a 30-odd page... thing... and then I let go of it. I've started 25. Finished 3.

NaNo suits me perfectly - the drive, the deadline, and the utter stupidity of it all. Stupid things suit me. Several personality tests have told me that a) I love a crisis because I like to fight my way out of it b) I can take criticism but don't like being told what to do and c) my personality matches that of Spike in Cowboy Bebop. OMG. Enough said.

So what are you guys like?

WAAHHH D-DAY... came and went on the 20th August, otherwise known as A-level results day. D:
Anyway, without any more beating about the bush, all that slogging and hard work and denying myself of watching even the smallest smidgen of all the appealing anime on the net *breathe* paid off.
Got 3 A's in my A-levels - English, History and Music, an A in my Art AS, and, staggeringly, 100% in 6 units. (which is wholly unecessary for admittance to uni, but still very nice to know XD)
Thanks be to God, I HAVE SURVIVED HIGH SCHOOL. YEAH BABY.

So, now on to King's College London to study English Lit & Lang come September - I cannot WAIT! The campus is on The Strand which, for those of you who don't know, is the street in the heart of London with the famous West End at one end, and Trafalgar Square and all the big famous art galleries at the other. The Royal Opera House is right opposite the doors of my campus Ohhhh I feel like a big girl now

Other news: I'm on a fascinating Philosophy course at the moment which, while brilliant, doesn't allow me access to a scanner. Suffice to say I'm drawing a lot, and am decidedly pulling together my own style still slightly anime, but I'm glad I've broken out of the huge-googly-eyed stage completely.

Also, if ANY of you have not read Homer's The Odyssey and have any form of functioning brain cells in your body, then read it. It is so epic, I can't begin to say how much I've fallen in love with it. The Greeks were fabulous people.

Many :] it's the general effect dark blue hair has on normal people outside of the imagination

Yep! In the way that anime characters can be... ya know, individual, but not that strange

Her hair... and crimson eyes... and you'd probably hear her before you saw her.

4) Would you consider your OC as attractive?
Definitely! No self-respecting 12 year old would come up with an ugly girl OC now, would they?

Very rarely. When she does, a thundercloud follows her in the figurative sense.

HISTORY

Yes - parents and a twin brother Alex, but I killed them off in various tragic ways so I wouldn't have to bother writing about them - just her memories of them. XD Ohh man this is cracking me up.

2) Is your character out on his/her own? If so, why?
Yes and no - she lives (in most stories) with her Aunt Asuka - if not then yes.

3) Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events?
Depends on the story. But she hasn't witnessed any - just has the knowledge of her family's demise(s)

4) What was probably the best time in his/her life so far?
When she finally realised who she was in love with

ROMANCE

1) Single?
At the beginnings of stories, yes. At the end, hell no.

2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships?
Yep

3) Does your character like flirting?
Nope. It's just not in her nature. In fact, I don't even think she knows what it is.

In one story, she's wanted for the mistake she made on a mission which cost her the lives of the team she was heading, plus her twin brother who died saving her life.

Too proud, hates sitting still and doing quiet things like reading.... and Kai's her last weakness XD

3) Strengths?
Agility, quick mind

4) Does your OC drink or smoke (etc)?
Nope

5) What's one quirk about him/her?
Dunno if it's a quirk, but she's determined like there's no tomorrow

6) Does your character have any phobias?
Hates sympathy, and hates crying in front of people, and is very afraid of the dark.

7) What could you do to get him/her into a blind rage?
Get anyone to insult her twin or Kai

8) Does your OC like chickens?
She eats them?

THE FINAL QUESTION.

What would you consider your relationship with your character to be like?
She's gone through various developments since I first created her when I was 12 - so she's like me, but not me at all - she's just the protagonist of most of my stories who I love to put through lots of scrapes but let her virtues (and LOVE) pull her through.

News Item Number One: I feel like a real woman of the world - I've gone to America for 3 weeks ON MY OWN while this may not seem like a spectacular achievement, if you understood my apalling sense of direction, it wouldn't seem so surprising.

Anyway, lots of adventures and so on, my cousins are hilarious, loved them both, and drew one page of Beat War *snerk*

News Item Number Two: I just got back from my choir tour which I was able to afford, so a HUGE thank you to all of you who commissioned me and made this possible, because it was one of the most wonderful and hilarious experiences of my life. We sang in Florence, in the Pisa Cathedral, Verona and other magnificent places - I even got to see the opera Carmen in a coliseum which was truly spectacular. One of my compositions was sung, and it was quite magic to hear it in a 13th century church with the most beautiful acoustics I've ever heard.

So, to , , , and anyone else I can't remember off the top of my head, a whacking great big THANK YOU!

Of course now that I've left school and the music studio I can't record anymore, and have no (immediate) need of money, so music commissions have stopped. But, if you're an old friend/excellent artist, I'd be happy to make something

1. I'm an utter music, anime and games junkie. Music will always come first, because there are places in us that only music, and not even (good grief) Final Fantasy, can reach.

6. I haven't found something (food-wise) that I don't like. Dad used to be a chef for 2 years in London, and I've been brought up to eat absolutely everything because he used to cook, and has taught us to cook, pretty much everything

8. I'm ridiculously attached to my older brother (18 months between us), though I'd never tell him that to his face. Apparently I used to command him to put my socks on and tie my shoes and generally do my bidding at the tender age of 2. Hasn't really changed much XD

End of!

Yup - exams are finally over, thank heavens. Burnt a couple of pieces of work that I hated in my after-exam barbecue thingy. Felt good.

Anyway - am off to California like I said for 3 weeks, and fully expect that whatever crazy activities I'll be doing will leave me with NO chance for art/scanning, so I apologise in advance for my 3 weeks' absence.

Music and art commisshes are, obviously, closed, as I won't be ANYWHERE near a recording studio and a beautiful Bosendorfer piano, and besides - after exam stress and a concert I forgot to dole myself out of, my voice and fingers need a hiatus too.

I'll be back soon, but I'm bringing my Beat War sketchbook with me. Hellooooo long plane journey
